The City of Englewood is considering how to revitalize and redevelop its urban core. To do so, the City is leveraging revitalization and redevelopment initiatives, which will direct growth and development to certain areas and improve the quality of life for everyone. The city has been experiencing heightened interest from the real estate development community and small business start-ups. Over the past two years, five major residential projects have been constructed. New businesses and remodeled retail spaces have also been added to the Downtown District.

Housing in Englewood faces challenges and opportunities due to the millennial generation, which will comprise fifty percent of the workforce by 2020. Empty-nester boomers are also looking for affordable housing options. The city has historically served the low-income elderly population. The Englewood Housing Authority owns or has interests in three major senior housing properties. Millennials are prime candidates to purchase single-family homes from retirees and other older residents.

The City Council has invested in a number of high-profile events for residents and businesses, such as the Summer Concert Series, Kidstage, the Englewood Drama Program, and Pop-Up Concerts. Other high-profile events held by the City Council include the Holiday Express and Chalk Art. The Keep Englewood Beautiful program has also been active in community cleanup programs. The City holds an annual Holiday Lighting contest, and the city hosts a tire and leaf drop-off.

The town has not made it mandatory for residents to inform residents of roommates, but they can do so at their discretion. The Town's newest homebuilder, New Town Builders, was one of the first in Colorado to order blue-stained lodgepole pine for construction. The company consulted with Choose Outdoors In to determine which materials to use for construction. They did not disclose the names of other construction crews. And because the Town is a home rule city, there is no legal obligation for motels or apartment complexes to inform guests of roommates.

In July, the Colorado Association of Realtors published data on home sales activity. The data are based on Metrolist numbers and are from 2003 through July this year. The Colorado Association of Realtors reports that home sales activity has a regular cycle that peaks in the middle of the year and bottoms out in January. In the case of Englewood, this trend continues. However, the local market has seen only modest growth over the past two years.
