Englewood, Colorado is a suburban Denver, Colorado city with a small historic downtown on South Broadway. The community also boasts several parks. The city is located at a high elevation of 5,371 feet, within the South Platte River Valley. This quaint suburb has many attractions for residents and visitors, and is an excellent location for a ski trip. Here's a look at the area's history. And don't miss its famous gold mines!

In the early 20th century, Englewood began to change dramatically. Broadway was paved, the chamber of commerce was formed, and General Iron Works arrived. But, by the mid-20th century, the community was facing a struggle for its own identity. Residents voted to create a Marshal to enforce city laws and appointed committees to oversee water, parks, and police. In 1926, there was a vote on incorporation, and Englewood's first mayor was Tom Skerritt, who won by a slim margin.

The town is home to award-winning distilleries, including Devil's Head Distillery. The distillery offers locally-made premium spirits, such as Oak Barrel Reserve Aquavit, native Colorado gin, and distilled Vodka made from malted barley. You can also enjoy hand-crafted cocktails and live music at the venue's outdoor patio. During the summer, visitors to Englewood can enjoy a spirited celebration by celebrating with fireworks, a beer garden, and live music.

Although Englewood's city hall has not adopted its comprehensive plan update yet, community development director Brad Power told The Denver Post that the council is working to incorporate historic preservation goals and objectives into the plan. The plan is meant to serve as general guidelines for future development in the city. The community is already home to the Arapahoe Acres subdivision, which includes many post-World War II homes. This area is already a National Register of Historic Places.

In 1905, the Swedish Consumptive Sanatorium was founded in the town. In 1906, Bundsen raised funds for five acres of land that would be used for a hospital. The facility expanded and eventually had x-ray, surgical, and occupational therapy departments. By the mid-1950s, the Swedish Hospital was known as the Englewood Swedish Medical Center. The town also became home to Craig Hospital, which had its roots in a 1905 study of tuberculosis.

The Pirates Cove Family Fun Aquatic Center is another popular place for a family day out. The facility features a leisure pool, water slide, and sand play area. Its Spray Garden is perfect for young children and its Lazy River is perfect for relaxing. There are also rental cabins available for rent, which have lounge chairs, dining areas, and charging outlets. The city is also a full-service city with its own library and park system.
